Travel day to today. Set my alarm for 6:30am as I had an 8:50am pick up to the airport. Unfortunately, I set it on my blackberry, which I realised is still on UK time - so 2 hours behind. Fortunately, the phantom door slammer and their entire extended family struck at 4am this morning and carried on until about 4:20, so not much chance of me sleeping in!!!

Was a bit sad to leave Cape Town, probably have not done it justice, but I saw what I wanted to see, so I'm okay with that. Trip back to the airport was uneventful, but I can't help wondering why slums always have to be by the airports, it's a pretty depressing sight. Although, there were alot of building projects & you could see where they were building houses to replace the slums and shanty towns. Managed to check in 2 bags in economy for no charge, however got completely skinned by a porter - won't do that again! Managed to buy a great little day bag at the airport, for half the price of the one I was looking at in the V&A Waterfront shops. Doesn't look that much bigger than the one I bought in the UK, but holds masses more!

Jo'burg is, I think, more than a bit scary and absolutely huge!!! I think I'm a bit glad I'm not staying here for very long. All the houses have huge high walls, barbed wire, cameras and who knows what else in the way of deterrents. It can't be a healthy way to live.

Staying at the Holiday Inn in Sandton, which seems pretty pleasant. Thankfully remembered to pack my Priority Club card, so got upgraded, which is nice. They have a pool, so may go and have a splash in a bit. Managed to redistribute my luggage, as I don't need to be lugging 2 bags to Kruger (especially as I have to carry them!!) and arranged to store 1 here while I'm at Kruger, as I'm coming back here for 1 night before flying back to Cape Town. Will also leave laptop bag, as that is damn heavy and not really expecting much time to be doing a blog. Not even sure if there will be wifi there, but downloaded the Off Travelling app just in case.

Have a stupid o'clock start tomorrow - pick up from this hotel is 6am, so I think an early bath & bed for me otherwise I will be crazy stupid from lack of sleep. Will remember to set my alarm on my iPod this time, as that manages to adjust it's time ok!

So may not be online for a few days, as don't get back to Jo'burg until the 28th!
