It is still raining. Seems Sydney has had more than a months rain in 2 days! Did nobody tell them were coming. We decided to explore the transport. Sydney has an Opel card which works like an Oyster card in London. We caught the train to Circular Quays and then walked around the Botanical Gardens in the rain before catching a ferry back to North Sydney. We arrived in Sydney to be greeted by rain. Our apartment has wonderful views over the harbour if only it would stop raining. Lucy and Sue went to supermarket to get some food and the her car was blocked in by somebody else in the block overnight so she had to walk home! I thought about letting his tyres down but decided against it.

Glad we are not in here for the night. They are converting some of the cells into a youth hostel. Reminds me of the plans for Broadmoor.

Our final night in Western Australia was spent at Fremantle in an apartment overlooking the marina. The temperature was a pleasant 28 degrees and we decided to visit Fremantle prison which started as a convict camp and until its closure in the 1980s a high security prison. With such an inhospitable surrounding countryside most escapees were recaptured. We had a great fish and chips for dinner and an early start to fly to Sydney.

Monkey Mia is a beautiful spot in the world heritage site "Shark Bay". Our chalet looks out on the beach and each morning the Dolphins come up to the beach to be fed by volunteers and also to fish for themselves. They come into the shallows and fish in knee deep water by herding the fish like a sheep dog.
