Day 31 - cont
The honeymoon starts hot with a trip to Hot Water Beach - there are natural springs in the sand - so it's dig, dig, dig to make a small pool to sit in. Cliff has a blast just digging the hole!
Day 32
Drive to Takou Bay nr Keri Keri
After a HUGE drive on a bank holiday weekend we arrive in the lovely secluded house of Takou Bay Lodge - an amazingly beautiful place where the only thing you can hear is the sound of the crickets. Heaven! After a long drive the BBQ is on and a couple of glasses of wine later we are settled!
Day 33
After a nice long lie in - we take the lodges canoes and paddle downstream to a private beach - there is no-one else to be seen! Another little slice of heaven, as we paddle in the sea,sit in the shade and explore the rock pools! We spend the whole day exploring and paddle home to sit outdoors in the Lodges open air bath! Champagne and a bath - what more could a girl ask for!
Day 34
Today we set of at the crack of farts again to go swimming with dolphins. It's not the same experience as Kaikoura - we hear that a set of Orca whales have been spotted which seems to have scared off the pods - so we see a few but don't get to swim. It makes me realise what an experience we had in Kaikoura! Anyway have a grand day regardless.
Day 35
For our final full day in NZ we indulge in a bit of sea fishing - not having the greatest sea legs this didn't fill be me with joy however it turned out to be a great experience - one I really enjoyed. Cliff managed to catch the biggest fish - a red snapper - which we promptly took home for the BBQ!
Day 36
Today is our last day in NZ. Having driven back to Auckland, and now sitting in the airport, I can honestly say we have had the trip of a lifetime. We have seen some amazing things, met some wonderful people, and had experiences we will never forget. We've been married for a week nearly - and looking forward to seeing all of you again to share in the story.
