To top off our adventurous travels in Laos we headed for the far east of Laos to a town called Louang Namtha. Here we booked a 2 day trek to the jungle and a home stay at a traditional Lao village. The first day we walked for about 6 hours through rough jungle terrain with lovely fauna and flaura. All went well until we came close to the wet areas of the jungle. We travelled north to the city of Lauang Prabang which is a World Heritage site. The town is beautiful with French-Indochinese architecture, rich in culture and sacred Budha images. It's the most Lao city in Laos with a distinctly village like feel. we stayed on the Mekong river with amazing sunset views. The food was fab and the mile long night market was filled with traditional arts, crafts and everything Lao. We found a small cinema where you we hired the room...

Our next destination was the spectacular limestone mountain valley of Vang Vieng. We stayed in the most amazing bungalows right on the Nam Xong river overlooking the impressive mountains. A morning dip in the clean river waters was a must and we spent 4 glorious days here with our new mates. Laos capital is Vientiane. It is a small little town with not one high rise building...that is what makes Laos such a unique country. We stayed here for three days where we visited the placid Buddhist monastery Wat Sisaket. It has over a thousand ancient Buddha statues. We also went to a Hindu Buddhist Fantasy Park - a very strange set-up of a combination varying in size Buddha statues scattered around a green park...weird! Paske was our first stop on our way north we hired a bike and went to the Champasak Province. This was the fist time that I got on the back of a motorbike with Ross in the driver seat...it went well but we did have a few arguments!! We went to two amazing waterfalls.
