15th August We arrived at Alice Springs on the 13th August and so far have done very little to report very boring to say the least. As we move south the weather is quite cool, particularly in Alice Springs where the nights were extremely cold - down to 0 and -1. The electric blanket and heater were working overtime. We left Katherine, on Sunday after several days at The Low level Caravan Park and stopped the night at Dunmarra on our 3482km trip home. Monday night we stopped at a place called Banka Banka, which has quite an interesting history. This Cattle station is 100 km north of Tennant Creek and was the first operational pastoral station established in the Northern Territory. Today we left Mataranka and drove to Katherine to park and get some groceries and then on to a free camp on the Victoria highway for the night. We are still uncertain whether to continue on through WA or to turn around at Lake Argyle and come back to start off home through the Red Centre. Thursday 23rd July After stocking up with food supplies and filling up with diesel we left Cloncurry and headed along the Barkly Highway to travel the 757kms beween Cloncurry and Three Ways Roadhouse (Three Ways is the intersection between the Barkley highway and the southern and northern sections of the Sturt highway) The only large town between is Mount Isa, 121kms from Cloncurry.
