AHHHH so behind on this blog thing.. to sum up xmas and new year in sydney BASICALLY...
chirstmas eve day i ended up going to a bbq with the newbies who were in my dorm which was pretty cool, dressed up all christmassy and ate kangerroo for the first time!!! chrimbooooo eve i met kate, lauren and amy in darling harbour and we went for some festive drinks, couple of us decided we should stay out all night as you do. Ended up meeting up with a few guys we knew from NZ and didnt get in until 7am in the morning, i was due to be at amys at 10 :/. managed to drag myself out of bed and made it to amys where the 4 of us had a lovely little champers brekkie out in the sunshine and boooooy it was hot! aussie weather had finally arrived woop. after chilling at hers we headed to bondi beach which was completely packed and soooo buzzing, atmosphere was insane. had a cheeky sunbathe and took lots of beach/santa hat snaps then headed over to kates pals house as his 2 housemates are professional chefs and had very kindly knocked us up a 3 course xmas dins. ahhh it was soooo tasty, ate so much nearly exploded. then they had this lil compition where everyone had to down a litre of their special 'xmas cocktail' which smelt vileeeee. lauren, kate and amy all gave it a bash and managed to down it quicker than half the boys which was pretty impressive!!! i couldnt hack it as i was still suffering from night before opppps. anyway we all went off home about 11.30ish..left one of the girls there who was being a dirty stopout!
the days in between xmas and new year were spent mainly drinking and tanning it up on the beach, got a very bad sunburn- when will i learn to put suncream on!!! but that made for some extremely interesting marks on my back.. anyway. charlotte and roh arrived in sydney wooohooo, fantastic times and the day before new year stingray came to join us, so i very kindly volunteered to get up at 7am and meet her at the train station and go over to chars with her.. she was staying at the place charlotte was in and it was across the water on a ferry. got to chars and sting basically passed out bless her, me and char went and sunbathed on the grass and then when everyone was awake and raring to go we went and go supplied for the new year festivities!
NEW YEAR 2011/2012...Epic.
31/12/2011... started by waking up at 6am. yes i kid you not, 6 bloody am. got ourselves all glammed up, as much as you can at that time anyway, met up with everyone and wondered down to the botanical gardens which is where the fireworks were going off.. the 12pm, midnight fireworks. and we were in the que to get in to the area at 7am. you probably think thats insane and we were there way too early but noooo. when we got there we were about 2000 people into the que and as we waited thousands more turned up behind us. the gates to get into the area didnt open until 10am and as we were in the que we saw a big sign to say 'no sparklers, no party poppers ect ect' soooo we had to spark up all the sparklers and pop all the poppers, the other people in the que clearly thought we were insane! but it woke us all up and we got in the mood to wait out the whole day for fireworks! finally at 10 the gates opened and we all got searched and ran in to find a decent spot, managed to find a pretty good spot, had a bit of a view of the opera house and bridge and decided to bugsie it before it went. laid out all our blankets and picnic mats- how cute are we. then sting went for a little wonder to see what was around.. came running back over and told us she found a spot 5mins from us where people were going into a restricted area with wristbands, she had asked the dude how people got the bands and he informed her that they were just giving them out to the first 2000 people that grab one. so obviously we all rushed over and grabbed a band but the area was packed so our cunning plan was to stay in the original area all day and then to go down to restricted viewing bit around midnight to get an amazingggggg view for fireworks.
the day was spent with us eating, drinking, playing 'spot flloyd'- flloyd is our pink inflatable flamingo pal who we decided to bring with us, eating vodka fruit salad, getting photographed and interviewed by the local newspaper, taken drunken videos of each other, playing stupid drinking games, eating and more drinking basically. it was scorching hot so we were all in our bikini tops soaking up the rays. at 9pm there was a mini fireworks display which was the family one and from then everyone was just buzzing! a crazy plane started writing things in the sky and music was blaring, everyone at this point around us was clearly pissed! at 11.30 we went into our restricted bit and took lots of pics before the fireworks went off at midnight and oooooh my god they were craaaazy good, like i didnt realise fireworks could even be that impressive but they were defo worth the 18 hour wait! after they finished we had a big group sing a long to old langsaigne whatever its called and all rang various people at home. was supposed to go out and find somewhere glam to spend the rest of the evening but ended up bumping into the welsh lads who were dressed as the jackson 5 in hyde park and had a party there until 8 in the morning before retunring to the hostel for like 3 hours sleep.
NEW YEARS DAY!
we were all incredibly hungover as you can imagine but we managed to get up and drag ourselves to chars apartment where we had planned to have a new year bbq. funnily enough nobody was really drinking! spent the day just chillin and eating lots of food.. was simple but very nice!
2nd jan and it was mine and amys last day in sydney.. we went to manley beach for a few hours then headed back to catch our bus at 7pm.. saying goodbye was a bit emotional, especially to kate as we knew we wouldnt see her again :( the irish lads from my room came and wished me off which was lovely and then we hopped on our freezing cold coach for our 12 hour drive to melbourne....

Raquel And given it took 4 countries ceonibmd to actually beat Australia, kinda shows something, doesn't it??? Besides, Australia has no gripe with Scotland, Wales N.Ireland. Like many other countries, England believes it to be better naturally. Well, breaking it down, England won 13 gold medals Australia won 14 gold medals. Beaten again cobber
