San Diegans proudly boast that their city is the best in the world, and why not on the evidence we saw. What a cracking little city. The weather is amazing all year, with temperatures always above 22 degrees, there are beaches aplenty and the city has plenty to offer.
After a short bus from LA, it was great to get into a city where we could easily walk from the bus station to our hostel; you certainly couldn't do that in LA. The hostel was a welcome surprise too, much better than the two we had stayed in in LA - it even felt like an old movie house, which was nice.
One of the highlights of the weekend spent here, for me, was going to our first baseball game at the San Diego Padres' stadium, conveniently located only a couple of blocks from our hostel. Having not known much about the sport before we came to the US, I now feel much more at home after spending an evening in the 'bleachers' (cheap seats) and subsequently watching copious amounts of the sports channel ESPN in the various hostel tv rooms. I'm not sure Rosa would say the same, but she didn't seem to mind as we ate plenty of popcorn and listened to the ridiculous chat between the opposing fans.
After a great weekend, the time eventually came to leave for Tijuana, Mexico; we didn't want to leave. Stay classy San Diego.
