I left Danang this morning about 10am (despite the fact that the train was scheduled to depart at 8.59am) and set off on what I thought was going to be a two hour train journey through the mountains and along the coast to Hue. I did get to see all the lovely scenery I was promised, but my train took over 4 hours and kept randomly stopping in the middle of nowhere.
Of course this meant that by the time I'd found a guesthouse and went out sightseeing I didn't have much time before everything closed. I took a moto to the Imperial Closure as I thought that was probably the most important site to see and so I spent an hour and a half looking around the various buildings there. It is a massive site and it was quite confusing figuring out what was what but it was impressive.
Unfortunately by the time I'd finished there it was gone 5pm and so the museums that I wanted to go to were closed. Although I didn't get to see everything I wanted to, there isn't enough to warrant staying an extra day so I have booked a tour of the DMZ (De-Militarised Zone) for tomorrow and after that I will get on a sleeper bus to Hanoi.
