The bus from Hoi An this morning only took half an hour so I got here by 10am. I had three places to see; the Museum of Cham Sculpture, the Cathedral and Cao Dai Temple.
The museum was a little hard to get to as a pedestrian and involved crossing some major roads, but I am a bit of a pro at crossing roads in Vietnam now so it was all in a day's work. It was definitely worth it though and the museum was a lot more interesting than merely going to an old Cham Temple complex. There was a wide range of sculpture on different themes and characters which was all described in depth so I feel like I learnt a lot. There was also a small display of ancient pottery and bronze objects dating back over two thousand years which is something I know about due to all my Ancient Greek studies at uni, so that was something I found particularly interesting.
From the museum I headed to the cathedral but unfortunately it was locked up so I had to observe from the gates. It was quite a walk to the temple, which was impressive to look at from the outside. There were two gate entrances, one for men and one for women, but I couldn't understand which was for which and there was no one around I could copy so I observed from outside.
By lunch time I had checked everything off my list, so since then I have been doing nothing. There are other things to do in Danang but they mostly involve day trips to a national park or a mountain, and I'm leaving tomorrow so I don't have time to do anything longer.

Janette shame you couldn't get into the museum and cathedral - is not as of you can pop back another time! When do you head off to NZ?
Beatrice Somers You're turning into quite a museum expert - do I detect a future career here?!? Take care on those roads!! XXxx
