Rohin goes around the world
Im very glad that i made the trip out to the Neuengammer Concentration camp on the out skirts of Hamburg. I was not too shaken by the experience as the camp was not one where major attrocites were committed, however in saying that some 30 thousand died there from either starvation or illness. Some friends have told me stories from other camps where they have visited that send chivers up your spine. I think one of the worst things that happened at Neuengammer was some sort of medical testing on children between ages 8 and 15. At the end of the tests they executed all of them so that there would be no evidence. It is really hard to imagine how this sort of thing could have happened, but the fact is it did and much much more.
So after this experience I met up with Simon and Dave after their work and we headed for the local swimming pool with thousands of others. It was a very pleasant 30 degrees so the pool was the place to be. It was also the place to go for a bit of local sight seeing, if you know what I mean.
So that was Hamburg and the next day I took my flight back to Zurich and the train up to Offenburg where Im back at Anna’s house. I was coming back here to go with them on the transa alps race which is a bloody hard 8 day mtb race with some ridiculous amount of training. But things have now changed as they have too many staff coming so im going to hang around here and train and hopefully race in a couple of marathons on the weekends.
So stay posted for some more race reports.
