Rohin goes around the world
So finally im in a city where I actually feel like things are priced resonably. Just down the road is a kebab store that does Falafels for $2 and since the Canadian and Aus dollar are the same I know that its just $2. Awersome, but is it wrong to only eat Falafel for lunch and dinner 5 days in a row? Oh well its actually cheaper to eat that then to buy some stuff to make a salad roll. Oh and the hostel doesnt have any cook tops so since im not into microwave meals, its falafel again... yeah. takes me back to my 1 Euro giro days in Athens.
The city of Vancouver is quite pretty. Its built on the water with the hills surrounding it so its got plenty going for it. Every body is quite healthy here and vegitarian is nearly as common as a meat eater so resturants have plenty of choices. Ive taken the bike out of the box and got right back into my riding. The first day I did a road ride to check it all out and get my bearings on where the trail areas are. Found me a hill to ride which was good to cos I really needed to get the legs doing some real work again after all that drinking in the US.
So hit the trails and tagged onto a few guys straight away. Beat the hell out of my map but problem was the guy leading us hadnt ridden there in some 10 years and wonderd if "Neds Atomic dust bin" trail had changed much... Hmm only a few additional sea saws, bridges, drop offs and a billion more roots and ruts to negotiate but still pretty similar - still down hill anyway. It was pretty narley stuff but its the sort of stuff I need to get better at so I was giving most things a go even if I had to come at them twice. I took a bit of a fall though and am now supporting some flesh wounds and bruising on one leg and ankel but with any luck it wont hinder me when trying to conquor the trail again tomorrow.
Its rough riding out there though. Nothing flows that well with to many roots and ruts that you cant get around. When I was riding a trial to get back I spent way too much time bike hiking to get over things. Maybe I was on the wrong trails but I think its dual suspesion country here.
Did a sensational hike and kayak today with barb. It was great the scenery was so nice. It would be a great place to live here for all the hiking, kayaking, riding and many other out door things.
Well off to Whistler on Monday and am hanging for that. Going to be awersome.
