Rohin goes around the world
Austria day 3
So today I was assured that the hard training was done and we would only be doing 4hrs below 120 bpm on Jorgs heart rate monitor. I was thinking that 120 bpm isn’t that high so it should be a nice cruisy ride, after all it was a recovery ride. Well how wrong was I. Jorg is amazingly fit so the pace to keep his heart rate at 120bpm was actually pretty high. I wouldn’t say to high for me but it certaintly wasn’t the pace I would choose for recovery. It was however a very nice ride. We headed down and crossed the Austrian boarder after about 30mins into Lichtienstine and another 20mins later we were in Switzerland riding down the Rhine river. We had the Swiss mountains on one side and another set of mountians on the other that had the Austrian boarder at the top of them. It was really a beautiful ride. We rode down the Rhine for about an hour before heading back to Lichtinstine and doing a small climb around a hill and through a few very nice towns before heading back up the Rhine and home again. It was a good 4hr ride and my legs feel pretty good. It will be interesting to see how they feel come Sunday for the race. Jorg is still insistnat that I start up on the pro line and do the 100km’s. I think he is thinking a bit much of me but Ill certaintly ride as hard as I can. There should be a pack for at least the first 60 or so km’s so as long as I get into that ill be right to hang there. Either way im looking forward to it.
After the ride we headed down the hill all together and visited Jorgs Uncle. We had few drinks and then a great pizza dinner at the local resturant. I ordered an Amiliana, which is a margarita with olives and pineapple on it. This is something that my lil sis Amilia invented and got me hooked on. It was great to have it again as I really love them. The other great thing about the night was that Lauren called. She was in the Swiss alpes somewhere which was probably pretty close to where I was. In a few days she is going to be in Heidelburg Germany which is only a few hours from Anna’s house but as luck would have it Ill be on my way to Italy so wont be able to visit her. She sounded really well though and was having a great time on her tour. It was great to chat, even if shortly. So good to hear her voice.
So its off to bed and up early for the drive back to Germany tomorrow and start getting ready for the race. We are dropping Anna’s folks and brother Luke off in Switzerland first though. It will be sad to see luke off as Ive really enjoyed spending time with him. Oh well I suppose im with some more Aussies In only a few days so ill learn to cope with this loss.
