We had a big couple of days in Rome, so much to,see, so little time.
We stayed in a very central spot, with all the main things to see within walking distance from Campo De Fiori.
Our day of sight-seeing started with the Pantheon, built in 27bC as a temple to the ancient roman gods. A massive building with dome that is open to the weather.
Then onto Trevi fountain to make a wish along with the thousands of others there doing the same, that's one busy roman god!
Now, there is a specific protocol when making a wish at Trevi, as follows:
you must have your back to the fountain and throw your coin/s over your left shoulder. The number of coins relates to the wish that will be granted. You have a choice of 3 wishes:
1 Coin means I will return to Rome.
2 coins means a new romance
3 coins means you will get married or divorced
Consequently, I threw only one coin, not that I necessarily want to come back to Rome, its that all the other options just weren't going to work!
Ok, wishes now made, we strolled our way back through some of the old streets of Rome to Campo Nuvona, then back home for a rest and dinner before Henry and I took an evening stroll to the Tiber, listened to a couple a jazz bass guitarists jamming - very cool indeed.
Tomorrow were off to see St Peters Basilica and the Colosseum.
