Dubai UAE
Well Desert Storm explains the last few days, though not so dramatic as a certain political leader with a t*** of a son would have you believe from his last visit to Saudi Arabia. My storm was the real thing I landed in Dammam in the middle of a sand/dust storm with visibility down to about 500 metres. But this did not deter the Mark Webbers in the populace. It appears drive as usual until the environment…. or a stray camel stops you. But I get ahead of myself. I blame the jet lag. My flight from Sydney to Dubai was great Emirates really is a great airline. Nice food and wide seats and leg room. Admittedly I did have the seat near the exit door.
I had a 12 hour stop over in Dubai to wait for the 50 minute flight to Dammam. But I did get a room at the Airport Millennium Hotel. I slept off some of the jet lag and began to rapidly dehydrate as I stepped outside for a photo. 45 degrees C after the Canberra winter was a bit hard to take. The trials I am prepared to got through for this blog. But check out the album. As it was a night flight and I did not have a window seat, the best I could do was photograph the info screen on the in-flight TV.
Anyway, the reason I am here is not to walk the endless terminal that is Dubai Airport. By the way 'terminal' is completely the wrong word as it goes on for ever through several time zones. It is so long that you get interval signs warning how many minutes walk you are from a particular gate. At one point I was 15 mins walk and I was not at either end. But I did find my gate, 201 to be precise, boarded the flight to Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I am the only Westerner which is cool. This brings us back to Desert Storm.
