Woke up at 3:30 to prepare for our 4:15 taxi ride to the airport. We loaded our backpacks into the trunk and climbed into the backseat. Once we were underway, the driver asked us where we were going, so we told him we were on our way to Vietnam and Thailand. Then he asked how long we'd be away, so we told him we'd be gone 6 months. Then he asked if our luggage was already at the airport! Pretty funny.
We got off the ground right on time at 6:15 and landed in Newark at 7:40. By the time we disembarked we were in the terminal at 8:00 with boarding for the next leg of our journey at 10:05. We have two hours to kill so we elect to walk around the terminal. Considering this is one of United's main hubs, it's a pretty boring airport. Except for the 8:00 AM sample of Johnny Walker Explorer at the Duty Free shop. What a way to start the day! Who needs Starbucks?
The thing that struck us the most as we wandered through the terminal was the number of defibrillators on the walls. They can't be more than 100 meters apart. If I was going to have a heart attack, this is the place I'd want it.
