World Trip 2005-06
BULA
A great 11 days on the paradise islands that make up Fiji! We both experienced two islands, firstly the biggest island; Viti Levu and then the following week Brides traveled to Robinson Crusoe while I took a trip to the Bounty Islands (Celebrity Love Island). To get the most of our time in Fiji we spent the first 5 days on the FeeJee experience, allowing us to learn and engage in the Fijian culture, meet some cool people and have great fun. Below I have pasted in the itinerary of our week from their website:
Day 1: Nadi to Coral Coast
Visit the Nadi markets and barter with the locals. Then head off down the coast, stopping at Natadola beach to play footy, volleyball or sunbathe. Visit a coastal village before sandboarding down the Sigatoka Sand dunes, then relax on the Coral Coast for the night.
INCLUSIONS
- Visit Malomalo village
- Sandboarding
Day 2: Coral Coast to Suva
Start the day off with our amazing 2-3 hour trek through the Namosi Highlands. Explore the Navua River by tubing down it, swimming at secluded waterfalls and finally a long boat journey back to the coast. Spend the night in Suva, the capital of the South Pacific.
INCLUSIONS
- 2hr trek in native rainforest
- River tubing
- Longboat trip
Day 3: Suva to Rakiraki
On today's route we stop at a remote village to experience a traditional sevu-sevu ceremony and go to a local school to meet Fijian students. At the Wainibuka River, try bilibili rafting (made of bamboo poles). Our overnight stop is on Volivoli Beach, Rakiraki - the top of the island. You will find a secluded white sand beach and reefs with fantastic snorkeling and enjoy other activities provided by this property.
INCLUSIONS
- School visit
- Bilibili rafting
- Village visit including a traditional Kava ceremony
Day 4: Rakiraki to Nadi
You will head to the north west of the island today through sugar cane fields and 'Bolywood' film locations. We focus on our Indo-Fijian culture in the Ba district, chowing down Ruby Murray (curry). Finishing off in the Hot Pools and Mud Pools at the base of the Sabeto Valley.
INCLUSIONS
- Natural hot pools/Mud pools
We initially started the tour on Tuesday with a small group of people. We enjoyed the day but the next day we decided to leave the group and stay at the resort for another day as it was beautiful, situated right on the beach. We rejoined the FeeJee experience the following day and it turned out to be a great decision. The group was much bigger and the trip was led by an awesome Fijian tour guide named Teresa, she had amazing energy, she even had everyone singing and dancing at 9.00 in the morning on the bus!! An informative tour guide that gives lapdances!!!! Great vibe. The next few days on the trip were great, highlights include a visit to a primary school, the Kava ceremonies and an impromptu sunset boat trip. Unfortunately our camera broke that week so we have had to lend photos from a fellow traveler. The last few days of our Fijian trip, Brides hit the party island of Robinson Crusoe, enjoying the party in paradise and chilling out on canoes and playing the guitar!!! I decided to visit Bounty Islands with So Young, a nice girl from South Korea who we met on the Feejee Experience. We snorkeled and canoed around the island. It only took 30 mins to walk around the whole of the island.
Today we are chilling before our flight to New Zealand.
