When I awoke today I was feeling much better though my stomach was still gurgling loudly constantly.
We took a long game drive today through Tarangire Park. The terrain here is much different. There are long grasses and many colorful birds and species of eagles.
The only new animals we saw on this drive were the dwarf mongoose perched upon a termite mound and dik-diks, which look like very delicate small deer. The male has tiny horns. We did see a sausage tree and a gathering of elephants, impalas and zebras all mixed together.
Again we saw many, many elephants but on this drive had the new experience of seeing them drink water and charging our vehicle. The price of the tape has just gone up! George offered taking Pat and I for a nice meal at the Danville Country Club when we are back in Kentucky in exchange for a copy.
There is a river running through this park and it is very delightful being able to sit outside our tent and watch the elephants and zebras graze in the valley below.
The way our days are planned work out nicely. We take a drive in the morning, return for lunch and then usually have about 3 hours of free time that we use to take naps and catch up on our diaries.
The afternoon drive was over a badly rutted road and there were really no new animals to see.
For dinner (the first meal I have felt like eating) we had another BBQ, which was quite good.
