Good evening my blog junkies.
Just a quick one this time to tell you where we are. After a very early start yesterday in Reykjavik we flew to Oslo in Norway. Country #5, flight #3. But we are feet on the ground now for a couple of weeks as we begin the trip across Scandinavia by rail.
Check in at Keflavik international airport was easy until the odd size baggage conveyer belt had a "moment". So plodded along in the line for 45 mins to put our bags on the plane. Still, this is why you give yourself the 3 hours the airlines request. No rush, still had a coffee and some blog time and made it comfortably to the gate. This was achieved through crowds of people as the remodeling of the airport was at our gate. Onto the bus and out over the tarmac, dodging planes to our flight to Oslo.
Chris at last got a window seat with a view NOT of the wing or the back of a French lady's head and thus we were off again into the air.
Fate however was not on Chris's side as we approached the fjord coast of Norway over Bergen, the clouds built up and there was no real view. The captain announced the weather is Oslo was dull overcast and 2 degrees and I swear there was some mirth in his tone as Iceland had better weather.
Easy path through customs and tickets for the local train to Oslo S after struggling to work out the bus system we decided train were better. This was a good choice because Grefsen station is only 2 stops from central.
The Haraldshiem hostel is big. It covers several 2 storey buildings with views across the housing commission flats, a soccer field and a freeway bridge. Apparently no harbour view rooms
