This is my third time in Bali and I love it here. There is something about this colourful Hindu Island in the middle of the sea surrounded by Islamic Indonesia, yet left alone to follow its own culture.
Bali used to have a royal family and a long history of wars and conquering leading to the culture today.
Trip advice #1; keep well out of Kuta, Legion and Seminyak. Go north up the coast as far as Peteniget to avoid the drunken Aussie bars. Even better, if you have enough time get away from the south west corner all together.
But with only 2 days we had to hang in the populated area. But the Spartacus Men's Only resort was like an oasis in the chaos.
We watched and obligatory sunset over the ocean while drinking wine and eating dips slumped in beanbags like all the other tourists.
On the second day we trekked into the interior to the areas around Ubud. Went to a silver shop so Chris could get a ring similar to mine and the driver found the same shop and there was one ring similar in Chris's size.
Further into the mountains and to the Elephant Temple we went. Lots of photos and dressing in sarongs to respect the fact that these are religious sites and not just tourist attractions. Pity some tourist don't know the difference.
Back in Peteniget for our last holiday dinner. The Peteniget cafe at the end of the street. We were exhausted yet happy and sad that this adventure was coming to an end tomorrow.
We will have a half day in the hotel by the pool then leave for the airport at 7pm for out 10 pm flight back to Australia. I have shared the greatest trip of my life so far with 2 of the most important people in my life.
