We were out of the hotel at 9am and headed to the Scioto Mile. This is a mile of the Scioto River bank that has been upgraded with a promenade, fountains and seats. At one end is Bicentennial Park which has a fountain with more than 1000 jets of water. We started in the park and then went onto the Promenade. This morning we went down to the riverfront to see the winged pigs. They sit on top of steamboat stacks at the entrance to Sawyer Park. Cincinnati used to be called Porkopolis because pork packing was a major industry for the city. The pigs wear crowns because Cincinnati is also known as Queen City. We had a funny experience last night. Before we went out to dinner I had rung housekeeping and asked them to bring me some non-feather pillows as I am allergic to feathers. Another wet day. Aghhhhhhhhh!!!!! We are so over the rain. We left the hotel after breakfast to find a park I had read about that was full of sculptures. We had the name of the park and the street name but no number. It wasn't listed by name under the park section of the GPS so we guessed a number but we couldn't find it. We found out during this morning's breakfast conversation that there was a museum about an hour's drive out of Toledo that has replicas of the buildings Abraham Lincoln first practised law in and the building Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb in.
