Well hello again everyone. . . . I made it to Bangkok and ended up meeting Steveo again at the airport, as he had been able to sort his tax stuff out quickly and jumped on a flight to Bangkok. . . . So, after a short wait at the airport for him, we headed off into the city, of course to the Koh San Road area!
I had been recommended a place to stay at, but by the time we got somewhere near and obviously dropped off at the wrong place, the walk would have been too much, it was well into the evening and I was gagging for a beer and a bite to eat. . . . So we mozied on down the famous Koh San road, not really taking much in, as we were on a mission. . . . Banging past people, we eventually got to the end of the road, turned right and first left into a not so busy street and found a nice enough looking guest house. . . I had a plan! Get a room for the night and if it isn't that good, we could find somewhere better the next day, without having to carry all the bags around!
It turned out to be quite a nice place, although we did changes rooms the next day to have air con!
So, the first evening we had to hit the town (as they say) and well we did. . . . We had some food at one of the many random restaurants, a few beers then needed to move, so had a bit of a walk. . . . And after hearing all the stories about the Ping-Pong show's, I supposed I would have to see one for myself. . . . So we jumped in a Tuk-Tuk and headed off somewhere the driver wanted to take us! It always the same with them guys, you say somewhere and they always know somewhere better (better for them more like!). anyway, we got to this random strange looking place and went in and paid a silly amount to get in, about a tenner! We sat down with a beer and watched. . . . Now, this is a family friendly journal, so I shall leave it there, but I would just like to add, that I thought it was a load of crap! "Who like's this stuff?", well, I suppose some of it was quite funny, certainly watching the reactions of other people was funny, but come on. . . . ?!?! Anyway, been there, seen it. . . . We then headed back to Kon San area and found a coolio bar with two guys playing acoustics and singing, which was great. . . . We sank a few beers and got chatting to two Irish girls and ended up going to a club with them. They were a bit weird, so after a bit in the club, we managed to lose them and partied til the early hours. . . . On the way home at some crazy hour, nearly 5am, we managed to scoff our way through a nice Subway sarni (Happy Days), before crashing into bed.
The next day we headed off across the city to try and sort Steve's flight home, as he wanted to get home asap, to see his girlfriend. The day seemed to disappear and soon it was the evening again, so after a nice Masaman curry and a wander round, we remember the England Vs Australia rugby was on, so just managed to catch the last nail biting 20 mins. . . . . What a result?!?!?! Awesome, I am absolutely stoked. . . Come on England. And then to top things off France went and beat New Zealand. . . . . Feeling full of the joys, we went back to the same guitar playing bar and stayed there for hours, chatting to some really nice Thai girls (Who where on holiday), then some Aussies. . . . They seemed to be taking the defeat pretty well, but I am sure they were burning up inside?!?!
After there we headed off to the club again for a dance, to hopefully help me sober up. . . . Obviously I was celebrating and managed to sink a fair number of the Thai buckets, whiskey, redbull and stuff. . . Very messy. . . .! So, yeah, after several hours of dancing and supposedly a Subway on the way home again, I passed out in bed. . . ! Happy days!
In the morning, well afternoon by the time we dragged ourselves out, I got a phone call from Claire, they had arrived the night before. . . . So, we got dressed and went to meet them. . . They were staying about 2 minutes away around the corner. . . . It was great to see them again and I was really looking forward to sharing all out stories again from the travels. . . The only problem was, I had been on the pop for 2 days and was not feeling 100%. . . .
Steve had decided to head to the airport to try and get on a flight, so was leaving at 5pm, so we decided to have a few beers and start early on a Sunday session. . . I managed a few beers with Nick, then crashed in the room for a bit while Steve was packing up his stuff. . . .We met Claire and Nick and hour later and started drinking again, the beer was going down slow!
Steve left and we said our goodbyes (What a great guy). And me, Claire and Nick carried on into the evening. . . we went for some food then on to a pool bar and played some pool. . . It was nice to chill out and play pool, but I still wasn't feeling it and we decided to call it a night reasonably early and do it properly the next day.
After a good nights sleep, I was up early and off on a mission! I had decided to join Claire and Nick on the next few legs of their journey and go to Cambodia and Vietnam with them. . . . the only thing was, I would need to get my Vietnamese visa sorted in Bangkok, so that was my mission. . . I got some passport photos done and headed to the embassy, handed my passport over, gave them some money and hopefully it will be there tomorrow. . . . It was. . . .
That night we also decided to have a big one, a bit of a celebration of meeting up, etc. . .We headed out and started with a few cocktails had then headed to the coolio bar me and Steve had found, with the guys playing guitar. . . . And we hit the pop. . . . A few beers and a bucket of whiskey, redbull and coke. . . ! Later Claire suggested to save on a bit of money, we could buy and bottle of whiskey and then coke and redbull as we need it. . . Sort of a good idea, but dangerous, very dangerous. . . The evening continued and I remember Claire saying that she was feeling a little tipsy. . We all were. . . We ended up chatting to different people in the bar, as ever, and of course, I got up to sing with the guy on guitar. . . ! Yeah baby, you would have been proud! I got the bar going and Claire and Nick encouraged me to stay up there. . . It was great fun and I really enjoyed it. . . I think I did stay up there a little longer than I was wanted, but good fun was had by all. . . . !
The next part of the evening gets a little woolley, so I will try and remember the best I can. . . . Supposedly Nick took Claire home, as she was passed her best, and I bumped into him again as I was leaving the place, Nick says, I was falling down the stairs. . . Awesome! He had taken a little longer to come back, as he met some Russians guys on his way back who were in the bar, enjoying my singing. . . hahaha!
Anyway, me and Nick decided to hit one of the clubs and I suggested the place I had been to before. . . On the way, we managed to scoff down a small chicken kebab from one of the street sellers, then went into the club for a dance. I cannot remember exactly how long we were in there, but I vaguely remember having a boogie! So, after some time we left and supposedly had a Subway sarni on the way home (it's amazing how you get the munchies late at night when you're drunk). I think I got into bad around 4am and probably passed out. . . .
The next day after some breakfast (late) Claire and Nick came with me to pick up my passport and we decided to take a walk through the cities park, which I was pleasantly surprised with! After collecting my passport we started walking to one of the huge shopping malls, we were after the MBK, where I had been before, but it was a bit further than we thought, so I was sweating like crazy, I think the booze from the night before was still coming out of me. . . We got to one of the malls, had a short wander around, but then found out where MBK was and headed off again.
After a bit of a walk around there and listening to Claire talking about all the things she wanted to buy and had already bought on her travels, I suggested we went bowling, as I had been bowling there before with Steve. . . They both agreed that it was a good idea, so we went to the top floor and went bowling. . . I then found out that Claire used to play in her local league a few years ago, so needless to say, once she got her eye in, she whipped our ass! It was great fun though and a nice way to spend the afternoon. . . They enjoyed it too, although Claire did manage to fall over. . . ! Bless, hehehehe. . . .
We decided to call it a night, as we were all knackered and were planning on leaving early to get over to Cambodia as quick as possible. . I watched one of my DVD's I had bought and then went to sleep. . . Up bright and early in the morning, I met Claire and Nick and after some breaky, we jumped into a taxi and headed to the bus station. We got the tickets really easily and didn't have to wait long til the bus left. . . . The journey to the border was around 5 to 6 hours, but I read a lot, listened to music and slept, so it didn't seem to take long!
We had to take a short journey in a Tuk-Tuk to the border, which was a little crazy, with all three of us plus bags! We got to the border and this is where the fun started (yes, I am being sarcastic!).
To be continued. . . . . See ya soon guys. . . .
