Saturday 2nd October
We met at 10am and took the MTR to Victoria Peak as it was a national holiday we had to queue for a while to board the tram which takes you to the top of the peak to give a great view of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the harbour. The views were just spectacular! We then took the MTR a fair distance to the cable cars which take you to 'Big Buddha' which is the largest outdoor seated bronze buddha in the world. It was extremley hot so the 228 steps up to the buddha did not come at a good time lol But the climb was well worth it as the buddha was so impressive ...... defo a highlight of the trip!
The cable car trip back was in the evening so the view of the city was great as it was all lit up. It was our turn to treat everyone to dinner so we thought where better to take mum, dad and liam than to our favourite backstreet restaurant on temple street :) it was worth it just to see the look on their faces and see them struggle using chop sticks for the first time (actually all were pretty good). We then had a go at haggling on temple street night market which was bustling and very lively before heading back to the hotel bar for a few drinks before bed.
Sunday 3rd October
In the morning mum, dad and liam had a lie in whilst me and rob did a touch of retail therapy :) we met everyone at midday and used the local bus service to get to Stanley which is a seaside resort with yes another market to haggle on (we are pretty good at this now!) entertainment was free if you fancied listening too a middle aged lady trying to sing a Chinese song in the highest ptched squak you can imagine (our ears ached after this... not good lol)
We then caught another bus and headed over to Aberdeen harbour home to a large floating resturant and a small old Chinese lady who follows you around the harbour when you say no to her boat trip - she was lucky we did'nt knock her over board lol. We then took the bus back to the hotel and went for a meal at a Thai/Indian/Malaysian restaurant which was really nice :)
