I want my money back!! It rained, and as sooon as i get back im onto qantas to sort some sort of refund! Im not going to tell them that it was quite refreshing though. And at least the weather makes its mind up here! When its sunny its a scorcher, and when it rains, it rains hard. None of this english weather that cant make its mind up and is just grey and pants all the time. Anyway my last few days in Melbourne went like this...
We woke up after a much needed lie in and headed off to St. Kilda for breakfast. Jumped on the tram and took the 20 min ride to the beach before getting off and having a walk around the area. Steenie wanted to find a place she went to 10 years ago that she enjoyed, so we found it and had a fry up there. After that we took a stroll on the beach and had a close (but not too close!) look at the washed up jellyfish on the beach. Sat and enjoyed the sun for a bit and then had a walk along the pier which was most enjoyable. After that we'd had enough and got the tram back to prepare for new years eve!
We'd spent far too much over the past few days (particularly me and shano at the cricket!) so we decided to take advantage of the hostels $25 dollar ticket to a free bar with fireworks. Decided to have a few cheeky ones in town first and headed over to the ice bar to experience, although unfortunately being nye it had shut early! (only disappointing thing we didnt get to do in Melbourne, as well as not seeing Harold Bishop obviously!) Went to section 8 which was a quality outside boozer. The bar was a shipping container and the area around it was wooden palletes with cushions. Uber cool! Then back to the hostel to drink as much free beer as we could and sink jagerbombs. Turn of midnight it was onto the hostel roof.... where it was absolutely lashing it down! Too hammered to care though and and as soon as we got to the edge of the building the fireworks ontop of the skyscrapers erupted and it was hello 2010! Back downstairs to finish off the night (Shano won the prize for most wrecked!) befire a few hours kip, ready for the dance festival Summadayze.
Arrived there at 11am and left when it shut at 11pm. Dont know where the 12 hours went but managed to get around all the stages, enjoy the dance music and even let Shano talk me into getting in the foam pit! Was an absolutely cracking finish to my time in Melbourne. Had seen and done so much in the 4 full days I had. What an amazing city.
