Well hello again! Or should i say.......wait for it... wait for it..... G'day mates!! Been in Australia now for 2 full days and ive had the most amazing, jam packed 2 days. Melbourne is absolutely amazing and i cant wait for the next 2 to start before I head off to the Great Ocean Road.
So when i last left you i was in Asia (turns out it was only a 9 hour flight instead of the 12 i was expecting so that was a bonus!). Landed at 10pm to see Shane waiting in arrivals who i hadnt seen in around 5 years. Had a big old cuddle infront of a good 50 odd people before we jumped on the bus to our hostel to meet the others (can i say for the benefit of this blog i will be referring to Shane Stankowski as Shano, Christine Stankowski as Steenie, and Nick McIntyre as Nick!). Met up with Nick and Steenie and instead of unpacking i had a good old catch up after all those years and sampled the aussie beers.
No time for a much needed lie in as we had booked to see day 4 of the test match against Pakistan. I jumped out of bed, shoved the t-shirt, shorts and thongs on (flip flops to you and me) to be met by shano wearing long trousers and saying, 'its gonna be nippy today, its only 28!' WHAT?! Needless to say i lashed on the suncream. We met up with Shano's friend Matt for breakfast at docklands sat infront of a few 3 million dollar yachts before heading on to the ground for the game. Quality place, being a not so important test match and a tuesday, the 100,000 ground was pretty empty although there was still 15,000 there and a fairly good atmosphere. Got lagered up in the sun and had a good old chill out. Headed over to Chinatown for the evening for some good cheap grub before heading back to the hostel for a few more beers and some pool.
Today i had a look around the city, jumping on the trams and checking out flinders street station, federation square, and walked along southbank in the baking sun. Hard life! Steenie had booked us in for lunch at fifteen (one of Jamie Olivers restaurants for underprevileged chefs). Had a stunning meal - its amazing what those low life's can achieve when they put their minds to it!! Finished the afternoon off with some shopping in the outlet stores before heading over to the tallest building in Melbourne - the Eureka tower. Went up to the top on the viewing platform and watched the sun go down over Melbourne which was brilliant. We then headed over to the casino where i got ID'd (i could have kissed her!) and after losing 20 dollars in about 50 seconds we headed off to the bars to spend Shano's 21 dollar winnings from his 2 dollar bet. Free beer tastes soooo good!!
Off to St. Kilda beach tomorrow for some sun before we hit the bars for new year. New years day is at the dance festival Summadayze (which is expecting rain!) so should be eventful! Hoping to do another blog post then but if not ill catch up with you when im heading to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road.
Thank you for all the blog posts. Hope you all have a fantastic New Year! Lots of love x ( x x x x x )
