Rob and shelley on tour
Hey
At last, civilisation!! We arrived in Perth a couple of days ago and it was sooo good to see the city and some life, I am a city girl afterall and was was having withdrawal symptoms with all that desert and lack of people.
Since being in Perth, we went to the Perth mint were we saw the gold being liquidised and then hardened within 5 minutes, it was fantastic and the block of gold the guy made was worth $225,000 so that made it even more special. The mint holds in excess of $3000,000 at any one time so you though security would be tight but oh no just one guy roaming round, it was weird.
We then had the chance to pick up a block (through glass obviously) and it was so heavy, I thought a lot differently about the film, itialian job cos you are like yeah right of couse you can bundle hundreds of blocks in the back on a mini and drive!! No wonder there was just one security guard cos you cant physically move the blocks!!
We then picked up our hire car, picked up Jo and Grant and headed further south, we saw some beautiful places including Albany were the backpackers was most homely place we've been to, we literally all curled up in front of the log fire and watched movies all night, pemberton and margaret river. We visited many sights and you can see the photos of Rob and the trees on the website, I still can't beleive he climbed all the way to the top (70 metres) nutter!!
The highlight of the down south adventure was the margaret river wine festival, I felt much more at home here (obviously) and with $25 to get in, I was away with the tastings. Rob was more adventurous, but me knowing the importance of wine loyalty, stuck the same one and the nice old guy ended up giving me the rest of the bottle!! yum yum, that lasted another couple of nights so we got value for money.
After here we went to see the dolphins at Bunbury and that was lovely, different to Monkey Mia cos this wasnt a feeding place and so the dolphins just come in to be nosey and see the people, it was also less regimented and we both got real up close and personal with JET, a mother dolphin who tragically lost her 8 month old calf 2 weeks before we went, she still came in though day in and day out.
Back in Perth now and having a day to sort our stuff out before we fly to Adelaide and meet up with Rob's mum and dad, it'll be lovely to see 2 familiar faces.
Must go for now
Speak soon
