Hi All from Christchurch NZ... since we last spoke we've travelled from Quennstown to Dunedin which is a very pretty Scottish style city then up the coast to Timaru and on to CHristchurch......its pretty amazing we've made it anywhere given the state of our hire car - to say its ancient is a massive understatement - its got 120,000km on the clock and Shell reckons its already gone round the clock a couple of times .......she's really missing her little Yaris.. Christchurch is another cool city which is very English - so with that and the cold weather we're feeling right at home at the mo..The city has got a chathedral, river avon and a victoria square with a statue of the queen. We went on a tram tour of the city this afternoon and it was really informative, this is the place in New Zealand with some history so far, NZ is a new country and so its hard to find somewhere with some nice buildings and museums. The place we are staying in is really nice and clean and has bathroom scales which is not good, too much hearty soup and not enough getting out for those long cold morning walks. The place we stayed in Dunedin was poor, I (Shelley) felt like crying when I went in, it hummed and we ran straight to the shop and bought a plug in airfresher and we both slept in our thermals (itchy itchy) But onwards and upwards now with this place and it still beats the campervan (what was that all about!!). We will chill tomorrow and then head up to Abel Tasmin on Monday for a series of 4 day walks (so Rob thinks!) Apparently you stay in 'huts' in the middle of the forest and walk for 4 days, eeerm watch out for the next installment, bet we dont stay in them huts!! Hope you've seen the pictures, Robs been doing his 'last action hero' thing and enjoying every minute. Sorry for those having trouble with the email, but it appears fine our end, please keep trying to send them through, them and the messages on t he site really make us chuckle.
