And so, many Sols later both of the sunny and of the alcoholic variety we have been to Isla Mujeres and Tulum
We arrived on isla mujeres after a 20 hour bus ride hot and sweaty, so much appreciated diving into the turquoise sea. After a gruelling day on the white sands, dodging coconuts and ant invasions we calmed our nerves sipping sweet cerveza on beach bar swings. Evenings were spent eating dinner while admiring fire-spinning, breakdancing, drumming buskers along with half of america´s easter holiday makers in tow. So with prices high we headed for Tulum.
We headed for the beach with the hope of spending a few nights in cabanas on the beach, but the other half of america´s easter holiday makers had beaten us to it! So instead we settled for Casa Del Sol with Mama, our adopted mexican grandmother, holder of all keys and moneys. Days were split between beach, bar, Tacos, Hammock.......tough. We were also lucky enough to be here for the Equinox. So, led by our high blood pressured guide Willie, we headed for Chichen Itza to witness the once a year appearence of the Serpent shadow moving down the side of the pyramid. It was truly enlightening spectacle as we joined hands and embraced the energy of Kukulcan with 40,000 other white cladded disciples. We are truly blessed... Next we headed for the ruins of Tulum, repect to the Mayans for their choice of location. Cliff top temples best viewed whilst taking a dip in the ever turquoise sea.
Fully beached out we are now heading for the darkest thickest jungles of Guatemala.
Thanks to all those who messaged us, hope all is well back home (cold i hear)
Love Rob and Lou xxxxxxxxxxx
