Hola Amigos!!
It has been a pretty eventful week covering four cities in five days!
We landed in mexico city on monday night and headed straight for our plush terrace onsuite room, but didnt get it to enjoy as much as we had hoped firstly due to not arriving till 10 at night with all bars and super markets closed, and secondly due to the chinese family enjoying dinner on our terrace! to be fair though we were pretty zonked so planned to get up early and check out the city. Our intial plan was to head straight to STA travel and change some dates for our flights. This soon turned into a tour of the city via the metro spanning all four corners of the city, which is huge. Each metro journey also included strange mash up versions of beatles medlys played by small blind men with speakers strapped to their chests. In the evening we witnessed a dancing troop of natively dressed indians burning flags and candles while dancing in circles on the corner of the main square. All pretty surreal as Jet lag was still strong.
The next day we headed to the beautiful town of Oaxaca (pronounced wa-ha-ka) which was much more chilled with lazy afternoons in the square, colourful markets and serinading Mariachi. We spent the two days sipping Sol and tasting every shape and form of tacos and burritos (shout to Jenny Lopez) great fun until Robs delicate belly revolted.
Next stop San Cristobal, which has to be seen to believed. The town is made up small stone cobbled streets with buildings each side of every colour imaginable, and mountains all around reaching up into the clouds. Last night we caught a local band whoi can only be described as Tom Waits meets Last of the mohicans meets gilberto gil....awesome!.We also managed to buy the biggest greenist baddest Hammock known to man soon be tested on the beaches of isla de las Mujeres.
Hope all is well love Rob and Lou
Hasta Luego!
