The story so far....
hi all -
we are now in namibia and enjoying the last leg of our journey. the last time we wrote we had just arrived in vic falls. well loads has happened since then!!!!!
firstly, for some deranged reason I decided to bungi of vic falls bridge. Never again but that does make me better then you richard. kylie also treated me to a marvelous microlight ride over the falls. SENSATIONAL. and of course yesterday i turned 30!!!! we celebrated last night by drinking a toast amongst the stars of the namibian desert. I also decided to practically sever my left index finger with a stanley knife so i will always remember my birthday by the scar which will undoubtedly appear in time. Idiot!
we have also travelled through botswana since we last wrote visiting the etosha game reserve and the okavango delta over which we took a 1 hour flight in a tiny Cessna aircraft. viewing the game from the air was a great experience.
Namibia is proving to be a lovely country with an interesting colonial history. Germany has left many influences and we are now holed up in a interesting little town by the coast which echoes the past. we have the namib desert right on our doorstep and some of the worlds most amazing sand dunes - can't wait to explore. this morning we visited a seal colony which was a sight - and smell - to see literally 1,000 of seals sitting on the beach.
the weather has been incredibly kind to us and we have not seen clouds for days and the sun has been doing its best to improve my tan. however its been a bit of a shocktoday in reaching the coast and the cold atlantic winds coming in. but don't worry i am sure we will do our best to survive!!
our tours finishes in 9 days time and then we are looking forward to meeting Loz, Richard and Zoe and continue east from Cape Town - we will probably update again then.
ciao for now
x
p.s. happy birthday andrew for the 7th - all the best people were born in may!
