Mancs on Tour
F*** f*** f*** They say Queenstown is the adventure capital of the world and they aint wrong. We are NZ$1800 lighter as a result of two days of activites but is has totally been worth it. We started off relatively mildly with a jetboat through the shotover canyon including many 360 degree spins which was great fun. This was followed in the afternoon by two goes each on the canyon swing (the worlds highest). This basically involved jumping off a platform into the canyon 110 metres below with full body harness. You freefall for 60metres before swinging into a 200 metre arc. I had had a few pints before to pluck up the courage due to my fear of heights and on the second go was literally suspended upside down before being dropped off. What a rush!!. We have some great video footage. Rob videoed himself on the way down with the camera strapped to his wrist. Today has been adrenaline central. We started with a morning skydive over the lakes and mountains. We had decided to drop from 12,000 feet but at the last minute upgraded to 15,000 (you need oxygen and everything - it was great). By 6,000 feet i was crying with fear and we werent even half way up. It was totally amazing - 70 seconds of freefall (terminal velocity - 200km an hour to the ground). What a buzz and so nice when the shoot opens and you can appreciate it a little more. As if this wasnt enough Rob managed to talk me into the acrobatic stunt plane in the afternoon. You are basically alone with the pilot (NZs number one stunt pilot) in a tiny byplane. You head on up and are subjected to 6 minutes of air acrobatics - vertical nosedives in a 360 spin, upside down, somersaults etc. At one point he even stalled the plane. I felt like Tom Cruise in Top Gun. It has to be the most amazing thing i have ever experienced. Rob absolutley loved it and suffice to say now wants to be a stunt pilot. I felt very sick on my return to ground and it took me at least an hour to stop shaking. To get over all the excitement we are headed to Milford Sound tomorrow (really nice chilled fjord) where we can relax for a couple of days. Hope you are all well and have your feet firmly on the ground. Take care Xxx
