First night in Bangkok
I've decided to create a little blog for anyone who is interested in keeping up with mine and Scott's travels! I hope you enjoy it and can share some of the experiences we have along the way.
So, it's our first night and we made it to the Rembrandt hotel in Bangkok, which will be a lovely chilled out 5 nights, easing us into this change of culture. It might be hard to leave the 4 star accommodation though and then jump right into the outdoor hostel with hammocks we have booked, but we need a little pamper before we start our travels !
We arrived in Bangkok at around 3:30pm after an 11 and a half hour flight which was surprisingly great ! Movie choice wasn't the best but I got to watch American Sniper, which although gritty was really good, and Scott got to watch some interesting documentaries. Those of you who know Scott, will remember he's not the best flyer and we had constant but light turbulence half way through, for around 30 mins. This was touch and go for Scott but we got through and it was a trouble free, comfortable and enjoyable flight!
We're with Eva airlines and I have to say is one of the best flights I've been on- you don't get pestered or restricted as much, unlike some British airlines and the food was really tasty, although a little odd for the western traveller ! In the morning we were asked if we wanted egg or porridge - Scott and I both got porridge but it turned out to be oatmeal with a pork broth, beans carrots and pork pieces. It was actually really nice but defo not what we expected! The thing I loved the most. Was that the toilets had grapefruit hand wash, hand cream, face mist and body spray so you always feel hydrated and refreshed ! That sounds a bit weird, but it makes such a difference to smell something fresh and tropical and takes you away from the fact you are miles away from your destination and stuck in a cabin full of farty air!
After we landed we grabbed our bags and caught a taxi to our hotel. It's quite smoggy here, which isn't a big surprise, but the weather is warm around 34 C. The hotel is amazing, a pool, gym and 5 restaurants including Italian (I'll be the judge of that food!), Mexican, thai and Indian. We have yet to sample the cuisine because as we didn't get lots of sleep on the plane, we napped straight away and now it's 12:43am and I'm wide awake!
We will try update the blog as often as we can and send lots of pictures, but for now I should try and sleep !
Night all xx
