The bus from Ica to Cusco was the worst journey I think we have had, 17hrs along the windiest of windy roads, however it was worth it because Cusco is absolutely stunning and tones of fun. We have spent 5 days here and managed to do very little and not get bored in the slightest, just walking around the main plaza is a pleasure there are hundreds of restaurants and the hostel is probably the best we have stayed in. So on the first day we arrived which was Saturday we chilled out and had a few drinks in the bar and an early night which was very much needed on the back of the bus ride. On Sunday we spent the day looking around town, probably the prettiest we have been to, and stopped for a bite to eat Chloe tried the famed local dish Ceviche which is basically raw trout soaked in lemon and served with parsley (and chilli if you´re lucky) needless to say she loved it and it has become a daily requirement! One thing we noticed was the abundance of massage parlors around which we duly noted for post Inca aching!! That night we joined three other guys from our 14 man dorm, 2 of which we shared the bus ride with from Ica. And took part in drink Olympics (the hostel bar has some sort of event every night) which was a good laugh we got pretty smashed from it then headed out and enjoyed the bars bidding for our custom by plying us with free drinks. I was sure a young girl had stolen a bracelet off me, but turns out I had left it on my bed!! We avoided buying drinks as much as possible and instead went from bar to bar claiming as many free drinks as possible. Really good night but the next day was a bit of a right off where we spent the day around the hostel chilling! We went out again on Tuesday night again the night followed a similar pattern and Chloe was in fine form plying myself and 2 other guys we met with free drinks courtesy of the bar manager and also persuaded him to leave his bar open well after hours until we decided we wanted to go. We had a very surreal experience , then going onto an Israeli bar where we were offered an after party at a local woman’s hostel which only had Israelis staying in it, we got there and found no such party but rather a large empty hall like room with a pool table and no chairs. We took part in the worse pool game of all time and none of us had ever wanted anything to end so much!! Again next day right off! Its Thursday today and we have sorted ourselves out for the Inca Trail we leave tomorrow I cant wait Chloe is dreading it! We´ll see the cultural side of Cusco on our return! Love the place to bits so I think we´ll stay for a good while after as well!
