Our flight from chile was pretty good, LAN chile is a decent airline, we had an hour stop in Auckland where rory had the most amazing lamb sandwich. We boarded the plane for the remaining two hour flight to Sydney. Both rory and I stayed awake for the majority of this 18 hour trip watching prison break to try and beat the jet lag, we both managed on 3 hours of sleep. We arrive in Sydney around 8.30ish in the morning and begin to leave the airport when we get stopped by a man who starts asking us all sorts of questions about our trip, we thought this was odd as I looked around and no one else was being interrogated he then lets us go and collect our bags, just as we were leaving a woman runs over to us and asks us to follow her to a seperate area where she also begins to aks the same questions, now I was getting worried as it seems abit weird and most people have a stupid perception of south America being full of drugs and really dangerous! We are standing there for about 15 minutes and see is clearly trying to decide if we are drug mules, I ask her why she chose us and its because we are only staying 3 days and have come from south America, honestly we were treated like criminals.
Anyway we arrived to our hostel in Kings Cross at around 10 and headed straight out and walked through potts point and past the naval ships and through botanical gardens to the opera house. It was a perfect day, hot and blue sky. We wandered around the opera house area and then took a ferry to Tronga zoo by ferry, which is said to be a really good zoo, I don't know what I was expecting but it was just a normal zoo, we whipped around that but it was worth it for the views of the city from the boat. We had a wonder around an area called the rocks and decided to walk towards china town and the other quays. The city is really impressive, we went into the Chinese peace gardens, which is so beautiful and peaceful in the middle of the city! We had dinner in china town at 5 because we were so jet lagged and went home to bed.
Woke up stupidly early and went off to explore more of the city, we walked around the quays and went up a light house which overlooked the harbour. I wanted to ride the monorail so we did two loops on it which is pretty awesome to see the city. I went to paddys market and brought some stuff, the market is awesome lots of stands and clothes are cheaper. Its really expensive in Sydney and cost us a fortune.
Third day was our sky diving trip, we got up early and went to the meeting point. They drove us abut an hour to the site and immediately we got there and paid they were strapping us in our gear and giving us a safety briefing. My guide was old and boring and didn't try and make it very exciting, rorys guide was awesome and made his video really well and at least said two words to him. We took a tiny aeroplane up, we all had to sit on the floor in between each others legs, after about 10 mintues of flying the back door opened and two guys jumped out! By this point we were pretty nervous, its really noisy up there. The lights for the door change from green (3 minutes to jump) to yellow (2 min) to red (jump), the guide shuffles you to the edge of the plane and you are hanging overand then he launches out, the freefall was really good, but the parachute part I found boring. Rory was loving it, the guide did loads of cool stuff, and he got to handle the chute himself. Had to spend the rest of the day there waiting for everyone else to go up and parachute down which was really boring. Afterward rory and I went go karting which I found more nerve racking than the jump. We were suppose to meet a girl I know but she had to work that night so we went to bed pretty early.
