Arrived to a chilly Bariloche and found our beautiful hostel! Its so cool and looks out over the lake! We spent the rest of the day looking around and sorting out all our washing and boring tasks like that.. Had to crack th thermals out though as its quite chilly at night.. another steak meal however we have decided to try stop spending so much and cook for ourselves. More pasta and omlette then (its our signature dishes).
Wednesday- We signed up for a kayaking trip on the river, got picked up and meet two people in the group which we had meet in BA which was weird! Got to the river and had to get into all the gear, wetsuit and all! I tell thee not the most flattering outfit! However when on the water me and Rory was a leathal combination in the kayak, i was the "power" man at the front while Rory took the position of rudder man at the back ( i dont know the official language in the kayaking world- but these are my interpretations). The instructors were really sweet and obvously loved it.. The river was quite high and fast so there was lot of paddling to get to safe waters! The kayaking was really good fun although I was nervous on the rapids as water was coming in the boat really fast but Rory was loving it, bloody ardrenline junkie. They decided to have a "bit of fun" and practise survival skills in one of the rapids, which involved swimming and then getting thrown a rope as you whizzed down the river. Seemed all very safe and well rehearsed. Rory and this guy Sean went and no problem, then me and Samantha went together and it was all going well, until the man threw the rope and it just feel at his feet. As far as I was concerned I was being washed out to sea, panic took over and I may have started shouting for help. Eventually they threw the other rope, but it was once of the comedy sketch situations where you grap the rope and it keeps coming and coming, Turns out no-one was holding the other end! bloody joke! eventually the other instructutor managed to get me washed up on some rocks! Rory found the whole situation histerical! I however no longer trust these men. So we paddle down to another stop where we can jump in from a massive rock on the side (quite fun although i was shaking like a leaf). Ended the day with a picnic on the river bank.
Thursday- aching and exhusted we get up for a entire day exploring the black glacier of Tronodor mountain. The guide treats it as a bit of a geography/geology lesson. I tried to ignore it as much as possible, 3 years of this crap at uni was enough! We made a few stops and walks to look at the glacier and other waterfalls. The national park is truely beautiful and our photos dont really capture it! Quite a nice day walking around, blue skies and sunny!
Friday- had a lazy day around the hostel, eventually managed to drag ourselves to the chair lift at one end of the lake and was dazzeled with some spectular views of the whole region. Went and met the couple we met kayacking and had a few drinks in their hostel.
