so having made the perfect start to my travels (got hammered the night before departure-check. got 3 hours sleep-check. woke up 5mins before the taxi was due-check) i was on my way. Met Blair/Ross and Dave at Heathrow en route to new york. Having left my bags at Tom's apartment me and the boys got the subway up to Harlem (yes, Harlem) to find their hostel. I somehow managed to get myself in a bit of an argument trying to get off the subway and got some of the famous NY attitude (at-i-tooood!) from about 5 locals until a very small, very old lady stepped in on my behalf and told them all to shut up and leave me alone! Found the hostel and then left the guys as they were off to see the knicks. Spent the whole of the thursday walking around manhattan seeing the sights, times sq, rockefeller centre, grand central, 5th avenue, empire state, chrysler building, macy's & flat-iron building before walking back to tom's throught the village and soho. Far too much walking it seems cos my right foot is now bloody agony (those of you who have had e-mails/texts before will notice that, although i still think its both big and clever, i'll not be swearing as much in this blog cos my mum's going to read it!) and i can hardly walk on it. So, that meant that Fri & Sat didnt involve as much sightseeing but i did meet up with Colin and Laura on their pre-marathon-carbs-fest and saw Central Park and the Guggenheim. All in all, NYC is awesome, everythin you think it will be. All that was left to do was to go out for a meal and some drinks with tom and friends in the village so that i was suitably hungover for my flight to LA!
