Hi All,
Well our adventures are nearly over in Oz with only a few days left, we have had an amazing adventure over the last 8 months and couldn't made it any better than we tried. here's our last week events we have been pretty busy:
TUESDAY 6TH FEB
We started our day with a good jog to try and get fit again, then we have been busy in the internet cafes trying to book some of our New Zeland, Fiji and America trip.
In the afternoon we went into town and took the free heritage tram around the city, which was pretty but I do think Sydney and Brisbane are a lot more nicer.
We had a walk through the city and at night cause it was pancake Tuesday we went to a pancake parlour to have a pancake dessert feast. In the mall there was little kiddy cars with noddy and some other cartoon, so I felt compelled to jump into the car and get C to take my photo's (and I turn 30 this year such a big kid).
WEDNESDAY 7TH FEB
We headed on the tram to Ramsey street as we had a week pass for zone 1 in Melbourne, we were a little cheeky cause Ramsey Street is in zone 2 so could have got in bother (naughty, naughty). We got a bit lost and got of the tram to early so it took us a little longer than planned to get there.
Ramsey Street is called Pin Oak St and is a lot smaller than I imagined it to be. I think we were unlucky as we may have just missed a film shooting, so no Dc Kennedy or Harold Bishop.
I was saying to C this is so and so's house and this is...... C didn't know so is going to have to study Neighbours now.
We got home and got ready to go to the Telstra stadium that holds 70,000 people to watch Oz V Qatar in the soccer world cup opening qualifier, it was a good game and we had really good seats. It finished 3 nil to Oz to everyone was happy. Instead of the Tartan Army there was the Golden Green Army they called themselves.
Our old Irish flatmate Alan was at the game to so we met up after it along with Katrina (old flat mate/Alan's girlfriend) and went to a pub at Federation Square and had a few pints and baileys. We never got home until 2 so were really tired.
THURSDAY 8TH FEB
Today you would be impressed as we still went out jogging even though we were a little hung over (me anyway). We headed into town and went around Fitzroy Gardens to the little tudor village and captain cooks cottage. There was also a memorial to JFK.
We headed home early as we were going around to a couples house (Shaun & Laura)who we met in Hepburn Springs on our trip around the Great Ocean Road. We had a BBQ and a lot of beer and wine. I tried Vegemite on Steak, which was nicer than I expected it to be and C had a nice veggie burger. We never left til around 1 in the morning and I was completly drunk. They are such a nice couple.
FRIDAY 9TH FEB
We decided today would be the day we changed all our money into other currencies. What trouble we had. We couldn't siwtch all our money in American express as it was too much and then when we went into the bank they told us they never had enough money to give us what we required so should go to head office along the road. The guy in there was nice but could only provide half of the money so we had to go back to the other one and get them to give us half. Apparently banks don't hold any real money. C and I were like it's my money and I want it, silly banks!!! We should have called to tell them we needed a large cash withdrawal.
After all the stress and taken all afternoon we went for a stroll along southbank next to the river and through the botanic gardens. nice to chill!!!! By the time we got home we flaked out!!!
SATURDAY 10TH FEB
More planning in the Internet Cafe this time on America and New Zealand is sorted and Fiji well once my bro does me that special favour that will be sorted too!!!
Our Irish friend Edel from back home in Edinburgh has arrived in Melbourne to begin her travels around OZ so we got on the tram and headed to St Kilda's beach to meet up with her and her Irish friend Johnny. It was really good to see a second face from back home. We went to a cafe and got the most giagantic soups and then headed around the beach and pier before heading off home. None stop chat as you can imagine. Wierd having someone you go out with in Edinburgh acroos in OZ sitting across from you..........
We have made plans to meet on Sunday to go to the free festival on the beach where 300,000 people will be there to party to the live music. It's an alcohol gree zone but we were planning our ways to get the drink in. Scottish and Irish at a festival and no drink aloud yeah right!!! Get drunk first then and then go in!!!
Monday we plan to do some sight seeing with Edel around Melbourne and at night we are all going to the neighbours night where Dc Kennedy should be singing with his band.
Tuesday we should be going out for a nice meal with Shaun and Laura and then Wednesday we should be saying farewell to Oz and hello to New Zealand.
Until next time.
