Hi everyone, adam here!!
sooo sorry its taken me so long to write this blog, we'v just been having so much fun and had too little time on our hands to write a blog so here goes, although this is really late because we are currently on the carribean coast right now ill try my best to remember what happened in mexico city haha
OK so, basically if i had to sum mexico city up in 2 ways i would say its the Police CAPITAL of the world and also the biggest and most busiest place iv ever been, seriously. Theres a gang of ATLEAST 7 or 8 policemen on every street corner no joke, we didnt know who to fear the most really, the police or the theives...as the police have kind of a bad reputation here but oh well. People told us soo much bad stuff about mexico city and its totally all hype, its the most amazing city we have been to so far in respect of culture and activities.
The first thing on the agenda was to get wasted as we spent a full day in bed from food poisoning the first day we got there so that was proper crap but we recovered and found our way to the roof terrace bar where we met plenty of new people including ben and jackie, john from sweden and arun from manchester(wheeey) haha!
the first thing we did was see the all famous piramids of mexico and it was absaloutly amazing. We climbed up them and a guide showed us around and inside the whole ancient town in the middle of nowhere. The trip lasted the full day and we even got chance to see how they made aztec masks and did tequila shots in the desert!!!! before we went on the tour we waited outside our hostel for like 5 mins for the bus to take us but we decided to follow a group of people (which we thought was out piramids tour) but it was actually a group of people from belgian!! haha we walked round this church for like 15 mins before we realised it wasnt our tour so we had to run back to the hostel to find the right one, it was a right dash through all the mexican rip off merchants, you should have seen us weaving in and out like colin mcray, it was mental.
The next day i took a trip to southern mexico with Arun and John in search of a traditional mexican market, and luckily enough thanks to aruns great directions we stumbled across a huuuuuge mexico indoor market and they sold some pretty amazing stuff there ranging from aztec masks to ornamental religeous families. We then went further south and took a gondola trip (see pics) round a huge river and got sung to by a mexican band with those awesome little guitars haha!
the last night we went to a typical masked lucha libre wrestling match... oh god. This wrestler named johnny took us to this huge arena where we were sat about a million miles away from the ring to watch this crappy wrestling match lol but we made the most of it with our group and got wasted and chanted with the crowd it was awesome.
So basically you cant run out of things to do in mexico city no matter how hard you try and dont believe all the hype because its an awesome place to go and the mexican culture is just crazy, (plus! they have no road rules and deffinatly no licenses!!!!) haha enough said about that really!
so yeah we have a few more blogs to write for you so hopefully we.l get those up in the next week
love you all and take care x x x x x x x x x
