Rich Round The World
Hey all!
Im now in the very north of Vietnam in the mountain village of Sapa. Ive been trekking here for the past 3 days. I went on a 2 day tour of the mountains around Sapa, staying one night in a family home and one night in the hotel back in Sapa.
The first day i treked for about 5 hours through the steep rice fields and down into the valleys. The views are spectacular! We eventually arrived at a small village where we will spend the night in a wooden house with a local family. They cooked us dinner and spent the night drinking the locally brewed rice wine and beer.
Yesterday continued south to another village about 3 hours away to eat lunch. The whole day it was raining and all the paths were steep muddy slopes! Nearly everyone fell over at some point, either down a muddy slope or into one of the many streams.
Along the way met many of the different tribes people in their colourful outfits. Even when in Sapa we are constantly surrounded by the locals trying to sell us anything from earings to blankets.
Last night we went to a local bar and played pool with the tribes people-they are so good that we hardly ever beat them!
Today im leaving Sapa on the night train back to Hanoi.
Before Sapa i took a 3 day tour of Halong Bay, staying overnight on a boat and on the largest island in hanolg Bay called Cat Ba. There i did another trek up through the forests and went swimming in the bay. Its an amazing place but it is spoiled by the amount of tourists that go there!
As you might have noticed i have finally put some photos on here. I finally worked it out how to do it. so when i get back to Hanoi i will find a internet cafe and get up to date with my photos so you can all see what ive been doing!
Bye for now!
