Rich Round The World
Xin Chao! (hello in vietnamese)
Excuse the picture of the elephant but im running out of pictures on this website for Vietnam. Its kind of relevant as in the Purple City, within the Old City of Hue, you can go round the ruins on an elephant.
Anyway im in the ancient city of Hue-theres a few Pagodas, the perfume river(and no it doesnt smell of perfume), tombs of some random people and thats about it! Been here for 2 days and ive basically been chilling in the hotel and watching Lord of the Rings on the movie channel. But i need the rest as ive been running around the city the other day for hours and seen most of the sites.
In a couple of hours im going on the bus up to Hanoi. It leaves here at 5pm and arrives in Hanoi 8am-so its another long night for me! Up north im going to visit Halong Bay, then head up in the mountains to the small tribal village of Sapa, before making my way into China.
Im loving the vietnamese food-its all noodles and rice with seafood or meats. The best food you can buy is from the little stalls where the locals eat. You can eat like a king for about 20 pence! Although noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner can get a bit much so ive been having banana pancakes for the last couple of days at a local cafe by my hotel. Its run by a local girl and her family and she likes to welcome you by smacking you as hard as she can on the back(which really hurts!). Shes a bit crazy!
Being a young strapping buck, i have the additional hazard of trying to be hooked up with the local girls by their mothers. In nearly every city the first question they ask is "do you have a girlfriend and how many"? then "how old are you? What is your job? You are very hansome boy!"- i think they are trying to sell their daughters off to westerners as they think we are all really rich! I politely smile and quickly run away!
Anyway will have much more to report when up north!
Take care y'all!
