Exploring the known and unknown
The staff at the resort turned out to be extremely friendly and helpful. As an experienced motorcyclist I am in the habit of checking my mode of transport long before I leave, just to make sure I am not faced with sudden surprises. On return from the trek I looked over the scooter and found the rear tyre to be flat. One of the staff gave me a pump to inflate the tyre and pointed me in the right direction to get it fixed. The repair shop was about 1 km away but happened to be shut. A man, who ran a small shop up the road walked over and made a call to the owner who soon arrived. However, no amount of explaining made him understand my problem as the rear tyre was now firm after being pumped up. Together we rode back to the resort where they were able to explain to him what the problem was. One of the ladies at the front desk approached me and said that as I would now miss out on lunch, they would pack a lunch for me which I could take with me and eat while on my way back to Mai Chau. Twenty five minutes later I returned to the resort,
collected my lunch and a map which showed me the way to ride the 50 km back to
Mai Chau. One and half hours later I was back with the small group of new friends exchanging our stories and adventures. The bus reached Hanoi by 7 pm and dropped everyone in front of, or very close to, their hotels. Early next morning I walked back over to Eric and Hue at "Getup&GoVietnam" to thank them for their excellent recommendation and tell them about my experiences. Thanks again Eric and Hue it was a great trip. Highly recommended.
