Brielle

I am staying in Brielle with one of my best friends Ab Touw and his wife Ineke . Ab is another friend for life and I could write 3 pages about him and me but I won't at this stage . Perhaps I come back on this later as this deserves a separate chapter. You will meet him soon as tomorrow we leave for France and spent 6 days travelling Belgium and Northern France (Normandy) together, mainly to visit another one of my friends Jerome who lives near Caen.

Brielle is a famous town in Holland and just about everyone knows the story about the Spanish revolt which started here. During the 1500’s,the various states of Holland had been occupied by Spanish forces for a period of 80 years. The revolt with started here and spread through the Nether –Lands resulted in the overthrow over the Spaniards and the formation of The Netherlands as a nation. The town still resembles a Fortified Bastion .

A long story but again I better included some pictures to show you a few of the sights in town.
