Exploring the known and unknown
Getting naked-Budapest
27-08-2104
The split city of Buda and Pest have an architecture which reminded me of St Petersburg; although nothing beats St Petersburg as that, for me, is still the most beautiful city I have ever laid eyes on.
To get around Budapest it is best to get a day ticket on the tram system and just follow the lines and get off anywhere you like as long as you have a map in your hand and know your location. Budapest is definitely not a dull place, the architecture, even in the side streets is explicit. I was here many years ago and had taken notice of it then, but during that time it was still a communist country and many places were in disrepair. To be fair, a few buildings can do with some cleaning up to restore them to their original lustre however most places in the city have been given a one-over. I will leave some comments with the pictures.
About getting naked. Many motorcycles have fairings which offer some weather protection for the rider. These days when a motorcycle is produced or built without a fairing, as it used to be, the terminology used is: "Naked Bike"
Two days ago the repair shop owner picked up my bike form the car recovery garage and together we stripped the bike of its fairing and tank in order to find the fault with the bike. There was still power, all lights worked and the engine could be cranked over. Soon we discovered that there was no spark after which the fault was found fairly quickly. I contacted Rob in Holland and soon he had found a used replacement part that could be despatch later that day. Meanwhile I obtained a car for a few days and drove to Budapest.
This afternoon I received an email that the part had arrived and that it had been fitted. Tomorrow I will leave early and try to complete the 5 hour drive during the morning and can hopefully continue my journey by motorcycle without any further incidents.
