A famous bridge

When travelling east you come past another point of interest further west was the bridge over the canal north of Caen. This bridge was featured in the movie “The Longest Day” which had been filmed “on location”.
In the early nineties the bridge was replaced and the original bridge placed in a park 50 yards away making it a memorial to the men who died on the bridge. A heroic feat was carried out by the crew of three Allied glider planes who landed with a radius of 100 meters of the bridge in the middle of the night and captured the bridge within a short time
fter enjoying a coffee at the coffee shop next to bride(which had served as a emergency medical centre) we headed further west towards Le Havre crossing a very large bridge across the Seine river.
