2 Big Drive Days- Overlanding

To get from Paraty to The Pantanal required 2 big drive days- i.e. 10-12 hours on the Truck! During these 2 days we discovered the highs and lows of overlanding leaving the beautiful Paraty for the road. A brief synopsis of overlanding is as follows (apologies for those of you who have been yourselves!)...

1. It is a TRUCK, not a bus (see picture) If you call it a bus/ Coach or even van it leads to drinking fines!
2. A Bush Camp- Sounds idylic doesn´t it, this is a truck park behind a petrol station. Usually covered in red dust, as are you by the end of it!!!
3. Bush Pee- exactly that, girls to the left of truck, boys to the right
4. Pitching your tent- wait a while, observe where everybody else is going (there are no prizes for first place here!). Once you have observed where the snorers are going head in the opposite direction
5. Service station- heaven! Usuaully a buffet where they weigh your plate to determine the price.

6. Do not sit at the back of the Truck unless you fancy 10 hours on a roller coaster!
