4th June Hervey Bay, the weather has improved a little cloud but nice and sunny. Sue and I visited a local park in search of the local colony of Fruit Bats but it would appear that they have moved off due to the bad weather recently. A walk on the beach shell hunting. Then a walk down to the Jetty to see what was being caught, a few Bream and flathead, tonight is expected to be a big tide. Spoke to Patrick an Aussie Irishman and his wife Glenda who are visiting from the Gold Coast here for the fishing.5thVisited Maryborough to the City Centre Market nothing special, the town has a lot of old buildings and lots of the old Queenslander style houses which are built up on stilts. Also saw the bronze statue of Mary Poppins which is to commemorate the author of the book P.L. Travers who was born in Maryborough in 1899. We travelled back to Hervey Bay visiting Rivers Heads one of the ferry ports to Fraser Island bur the views from the top of the hill are absolutely stunning to the SW the joining of the Susan and Mary rivers hence the name Rivers Heads and to the NE looking at Fraser Island. Then down onto the Jetty at Hervey Bay to see what was biting. Saw dolphins of the end of the jetty. Caught bream, flounder, tailor and a couple of smaller species. Met up with Glenda and Patrick for the evening and had a meal out with them.
