Hanoi...its the city that wont let you leave...
After many tired and failed attempts we are laving Hanoi this evening (fingers crossed) to fly down to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). The onset of typhoons heading to the Vietnam coast changed our plans a little so we are heading South and inland. Emma went to the water puppet show here in Hanoi and I drank some Bia Hoi, the local home brew that is about 18p a glass. They have a very interesting concept of road rules in Hanoi, when the road gets gridlcoked, the pavements become fair game and a simple walk to the shop becomes a scene from Die Hard - but with scooters instead of terrorists. Hopefully in the next few days we will get to visit the Chu Chi tunnels (used during the Vietnam war - Google them!) and a water park that has water in it (unlike the one in Hanoi).
I am keeping a note of all the wierd stuff we've eaten so far and am planning on cooking you all a feast when we return, thats assuming Asda have started stocking snails, frogs, chicken feet, maggots and pigs small intestine - they definitely have Fish Sauce and Soy Sauce :)
PS mum: frogs do actually taste just like chicken, more like chicken than KFC
Love you all,
'Hanoi cabin fever' Rich and the lovely Emma (as always)
