So we finally arrived in Ho Hi Minh City (which used to be Saigon) and so far we really like it here.
Today we visited the Chu Chi Tunnels, a network of 240km of tunnles near the Cambodian border that were used in the war to fight the Americans by the "American Killer Heroes". We tried out the secret tunnel hatches (the lid is about the size of A4 piece of paper) and crawled through some of the tunnels - bats live in them!!!! that they used. They showed you a whole load of booby traps that involved spikes, trapdoors and poison and a landmined American tank. As our guide 'Joey" (not his actual name) said, you crawl through the tunnels you feel like Rambo. Hope you like the pictures of us sneaking aournd the tunnels, I have some videos we took that really show you how small the tunnels were, but im sturggling to upload them - they'll be worth it when i do, makes the Blair Witch Project look tame :)
A pretty starnge day out, but it really is amazing the conditions they managed to fight in.
Tomorrow we are going to Mui Ne (surfing beach) for a few days, then back to Saigon to take a short tour of the Mekong Delta and travel by boat into Cambodia.
Love you all,
Rich
