Ric Flack's Travels
Up a little before 8:00 today so that I could go to the shore excursion desk and see about changing the time on our shore excursion to be earlier. We were able to get on the 12:00 tour. I went back to the room and Nikki was up. She and I sat out on the verandah and watched the ship pull into Cabo San Lucas. As we sat there I noticed that up ahead of the ship were a whole bunch of fish jumping out of the water. I then realized that it was dolphins and there were about 100 of them. They were all jumping out of the water. I grabbed the camera and tried to get some photos but didn't have great success. By that time it was close to 9 and we got the girls out of bed and all got ready for the day. We decided to have breakfast at Topsiders and then catch a tender to the pier. We met in the Buena Vista Theater and waited about 10 minutes until a tender was ready for us. As we were going down the stairs to the tender, the woman behind me told me that my backpack pocket was open. Turns out that is the pocket that had our shore excursion tickets in it and they were not in the pocket. I headed back up to the Buena Vista Theater and Nikki and the Girls waited for me. I found the tickets on the floor of the theater and went back down to the tender. By the time we got to the pier we had about 20 minutes before our excursion met so we just stopped by a flea market near the pier. The girls each got a purse and then we headed back to wait for our shore excursion to be called. At noon we were given green Peter Pan stickers to identify us as participants in the Rhino 4X4 Adventure. It was just a short walk to the vans that took us the 30 minutes to the ranch where we got on our rhinos. It was a blast! We rode through the desert, an area of more dense foliage and across what looked like a wide, dried up riverbed. Nikki's rhino got stuck at one point which was a little scary for me and a challenge for her. After a brief stop for bottled water, we rode along the dry river bed to the ocean where we drove on the beach. We saw the carcass of a seal and also saw a sea turtle that we think was laying eggs on the beach. Then we drove up a series of steep climbs to an overlook point where we stopped for photos. Then after a short ride back to the ranch we got on the vans and headed back to Cabo. We were all filthy from all the dust and sand that was kicked up by the excursion so we opted to catch a tender back to the ship to shower. During the tender ride we saw Rays jumping out of the water. It was cool because they flapped their flippers so it looked like they were flying. While Kelsie showered, the rest of us ran up to grab a snack. We all showered, ate and then chilled for a little while until the ship pulled out of the harbor. Then it was time to go down to Parrot Cay for dinner. After dinner the show was a comedian from the first night on the ship named Ron Pearson. He was funny and anyone reading this can see him on the Chelsea Handler show this Friday August 22, 2008. Regan went to the theater to watch Ironman after the show while the rest of us came back to the room to get ready for bed. We lose an hour again tonight. Tomorrow is Puerto Vallarta.
