Iceland is a country know by most but visited by few.
Those who do have the opportunity are amazed by the frozen beauty of a wilderness landscape.
A land dominated by snow and ice.
The formation of glaciers are everywhere it seems as mountain ranges are both the source of the snow that becomes a river of ice and then given the required compression becomes a glacier.
This very glacier born on the mountainside become the enemy as they carve the cirques that can overtime destroy their birthplace.
However Iceland with less then 400,000 population is also home to the other extremes Volcanoes, geysers, hot springs and lava fields.
My brief visit saw only the Glaciers and snow fields as I was way north of the capital Reykjavik where most people live and the other natural features are evident.
However Iceland is best known as it's name proclaims so I only observed these natural features, missing out for now on the rich culture of the Icelandic people who have called this home since the 9th century.
