The French are well known for their love of a beach holiday.
The English also love their stony beaches.
The Queen is revered by the majority of the British people.
The French opened their borders to the illegal immigrants, Britain didn't.
Both countries have suffered from Muslim based terrorist attacks.
So with a little time to explore while waiting at Ouistreham for the ferry to Portsmouth I decided to look, listen, talk and observe locally to see what this mix was creating in 2018. Previously in 2015 I had been held up by illegals trying to get into Britain via the chunnel.
When the French visit the seaside tey come in a number of different methods of transport. During my time in france i had seen vast storage paddocks of caravans awaiting the French summer when the largely city based population bursts out for summer holidays and drive to these storage yards and retrieve their caravan.
Others have followed the American tradition and have a mobile home to take on their summer holiday.
Others will seek refuge in apartments and holiday cottahes.
Those with mobile homes are often found camping in basically car parking lots where the barest facilities offered are water and a sewerage dump trap. It does come cheap at an average of $15 per24hr period.
So what can the average French family expect to see and do during the day.
Swimming at the beach is usually wading with the lack of real waves with coarse sand often requiring footwear.
they fly kites, drive go karts, ride ponies, ride amusements, cycle in single, tandem and quad bicycles, enjoy sideshow attractions and of course eat. The food is typically American Fairy Floss, hot dogs, chips.
A feature not seen to the same extent on Australian and American beaches is the widespread family games. These maybe Boules, football (soccer), beach volleyball and other ball type games the names I know not. It is common to see the whole family or actually the extended family all participating in these games. They also love inflatable toys and even teenagers come armed with these toys or purchase them from the multitude of kiosk's at every beachside town. The hours of operation also are different to those of an Australian beach. No early starts with the masses arriving maybe briefly for a short sunbake from 11am but the majority appear around 3pm and are gradually leaving around 8pm to move to a restaurant for tea.
HM Queen Elizabeth II has made a number of visits to French beaches since 1953 mainly inline with D Day celebrations and this beach has a current very extensive photographic display depicting her visits over a 60 year span.
However where their is a beach the illegals are also present and as Ouistreham is the location of the ferry to Portsmouth they have gathered and create continual problems for the French Police. The Police maintain a 24/7 presence often I saw 16 officers deployed to keep the illegals away from the ferry port. The illegals I personally witnessed have no respect for the French people, the French Government and certainly none for the French Police.
On a regular basis they appear from the side strret, immacukately dressed but all fit young males and advance along the streets towards the ferry terminal. The Police meet them head on and try for a peaceful withdrawal if not the appropiate force is applied to ensure they do not reach the terminal. This seemed to occur every few hours and must be a massive financial burden to the French. Some would say why don't they just let them go well as Australia has found out everyone they gets throught 20 will replace them oor in the case of Australia 40000+ until a change of government stopped in our case the boats.

Laura It is would appear from your informative New Blog ....it is ironic, that, persons who immigrant....quasi' "The Illegals".....to France, it then, becomes a the responsibility the French People to keep them there .....both financially and Forcibly .....it would make room for thought that Australia being final destination for alleged illegal immigrants to give cue-doss the those who had the fore thought to stop the Boats.....
